I’m sure you’ve heard someone say, “I wish I could let it go” or, “Why can’t I just give it to God?”  We as humans have trouble letting things go.  We like to be able to hold onto things thinking that maybe we can control the outcome on our own, and often times we can’t.  We have to learn to give our problems to God.  It isn’t always easy, and God never said it would be.  We have to learn this through experience, through time in His Word and in prayer.  This is not a skill that just appears out of nowhere when you get saved, this is a skill that has to be refined by fire.  When Christ was on earth He said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30 NIV.  Easy and light are terms that are used to compare tasks here.  The burdens that we try to carry are often too much to bear.  Christ wants us to give Him our worries, and He wants to give us His yoke.  His yoke is following God’s Will.  Christ wants to take our burdens in order for us to follow God’s will to our full ability.  As we learn to let go of our worries and our troubles in order to give them to God, I believe that we will find it easier to say “yes” to following God’s will.  I am not saying the task itself will always be easy, and neither did Christ.  He said that His yoke was light, but He still had a yoke to bear.  There will be times it will feel more like work to follow Christ, but it will be easier and better than worrying about everything that comes and goes.  Christ wants us to give Him our burden, and in order to follow Christ we have to.  We have to let go of things that are too big for us anyway and learn to follow God’s lead.  He will not give us more than we can handle, and He will be with us every step of the way while holding us in the Palm of His Hand.  God Bless!
