“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7. I use these two verses quite often, and that is because I feel led to. As Christians we have to read and study God’s Word. I cannot stress it enough. We have to dig deep into Christ. We have to let our roots grow deep. It is one thing to know about the Rock, but another to have Him be your foundation. You have to make that choice. This goes past accepting Christ as Savior. It says in the verse above, just as you received Christ as Lord, continue to live in Him, be rooted and built up in Him. We have to grow deeper and deeper roots daily, and build on Him daily. We cannot just accept Christ and go no further, when we accept Christ we must continue to grow closer to Him and study God’s Word so that we will be able to answer when asked for the reason for hope within us. We have to know why we believe what we believe. We also have to be able to trust in the Lord when tough times come, and part of our ability to do these things comes from knowing the Word of God. The more time we spend in the Bible and in prayer the closer we grow to God. The closer we grow to Him the less likely we are to be shaken. There may be times we bend, but we will not break. Tough times will come, but Christ will be with us and we have to trust Him. It is easier to trust somebody when you know them well. We should seek to know Christ better each and everyday. God Bless!
