I understand that the topic of election/predestination is a very touchy subject. I understand that there are several different view points, and I respect that, all I ask is that you hear me out. I believe that the grace of God is free to all who will come to God and ask Him for forgiveness through the blood of Christ. Here are a few reasons why. First, God told Abraham, “and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” Genesis 22:18. I take this to mean that all people from all nations will be blessed, and thus able to receive the gospel, not just a few select individuals. Next, we find in the Old Testament that people could come and join the Jewish people, which are God’s people. Rahab, the woman who helped the two spies sent into Jericho, is one of the earliest examples. Ruth as well, a woman from a pagan land who renounced her old gods and came to Israel. She had a kinsman redeemer and was welcomed in. Christ is our Kinsman Redeemer, He saves us and brings us in though we once served anything but God while we were in sin.
Third, it says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13. God knows us, He knew us before we were even born, He knew us before we were even conceived or our parents before us because He is omniscient, meaning all-knowing. Then it says in Romans 8:28-30, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” God has predestined us, all of us because he foreknew all of us, to be conformed to the image of His Son, meaning He has predestined us to be likened unto the image of purity, the image of Love, the image of peace and so forth. God has also predestined that we should go to heaven. God Loves the whole world so much that He gave His only Son for us, and whoever believes in him will be given eternal life. Predestined, simply means to settle beforehand. God had the plan of our salvation settled beforehand, before sin entered the human race. It says in Ephesians 1:4-6, For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.” God’s will is that none perish as it says in 1 Peter 3:9. He wants all people to come to His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sin.
Jesus stands at the door and knocks as it says in Revelation 3:20, and if we will let Him in He will eat with us and we with Him. God has already predestined us, but when Jesus knocks that is when He is calling us, we have to choose to either send Him away, or let Him in. And how do we let Him in? We confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior, we ask God to save us and forgive us of our sins, and we then believe in our hearts that God raised Christ from the dead. This is how we let Jesus into our lives, and doing this means that He will also let us into heaven when we die. It is the most important decision we will ever make. God already made His decision, He already settled the matter, and now He is giving you the chance to accept His Son. God Bless!
