“As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.” Luke 1:44. This has always been one of my favorite verses in Luke chapter 1. I believe that the baby in her womb truly leaped for joy when he heard the voice of Mary and that it was not just an ordinary kick from the child. How could it have been just a normal kick, Elizabeth was already six months pregnant, she would have known a normal kick from a leap. The joy of John the Baptist is what I believe should be the joy of Christmas. We are to rejoice that Jesus came. Jesus Christ is the greatest gift that any man or woman can receive. This gift truly keeps giving. We get a relationship with God the Father, we get to live forever with Him, and we get the chance to fulfill our purpose while on earth. The gift of Jesus, salvation, is greater than anything this world can offer. John the Baptist was thrilled to be near the Savior for the first time, and neither of them had even been born yet. That is what the Joy of the Lord will do for a person, it is an unexplainable feeling. It is better than any high a drug could give, it is better than any feeling liquor could give. The Joy of the Lord is so powerful, that even the unborn can feel it and be moved. So imagine, if you will, what just a few people moved by Joy of the Lord could accomplish. If we as brothers and sisters in Christ followed God’s Lead entirely, and not bicker or try to hinder the Spirit of God, what we could accomplish for His Name’s sake. God Bless!
