Well Spoken

2020-08-15T02:09:15+00:00

"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."  Colossians 4:6.  I cannot stress it enough that you or I may be the only Bible someone reads, and that we must stay true to what the Bible actually says.  We need to live as we should, as actions often speak louder than words.  Yet, we need to make sure that we are speaking what is true.  Our words matter, and if we as Christians constantly put others down with our words then that will be a negative witness to someone [...]

Represent

2020-08-14T02:29:18+00:00

I am by no means a professional archer, but there are several companies that I shoot for that I represent.  I use their products and I promote those products in return for a reward.  As true Christians, we have received Christ into our lives.  This is a gift from God, not a reward for doing good deeds or works.  However, once we accept Christ into our life we begin to live for Him.  We are to represent Christ in all that we do, in that, we are to share His Love, we are to forgive as He forgave, we are to [...]

Greed

2020-08-13T02:55:20+00:00

"The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, "See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him.  Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver."  Judges 16:5.  The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil as the Bible puts it.  Samson had fell in love with Delilah, but she did not truly love him.  When the rulers offered her a large reward to get Samson to reveal the source of [...]

Special to God

2020-08-12T02:22:32+00:00

"Again the Israelites cried out to the LORD, and he gave them a deliverer-Ehud, a left handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite.  The Israelites sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab." Judges 3:15.  The Bible does not often note whether a person is right handed or left handed, in fact, this is one of the only times it is recorded.  As we read through this part of the book, we see that Ehud was able to use this trait to attain victory and freedom for Israel.  I did a little research, and most of the time when [...]

Rest

2020-08-11T02:31:10+00:00

I try to do at least one devotional per month on rest.  God wants us to work, you can find the phrase, "if a man won't work then he shouldn't eat" in the Bible.  Yet God also wants us to get the rest that we need just as we have to let soil rest.  If you only grow a certain type of plant on a parcel of land, it can deplete all of the nutrients in the soil, but, if you will give the soil a year of rest after several years of using the soil to grow crops then the [...]

Put in the time

2020-08-10T03:23:22+00:00

There was a young man named Joe who was in high school.  Joe's final exams were drawing near but he refused to study for them.  He thought, "Oh I know that stuff, I'll get by just fine."  He would go hang out with friends and he would celebrate that graduation was coming up shortly.  Then the night before exams he decided to study.  He skimmed through every one of his textbooks and through his previous tests.  He went to school the next day and took some exams.  He passed the tests, but barely.  He passed, as some would say, "by the [...]

But God

2020-08-09T01:59:17+00:00

"But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple."  Psalm 5:7.  The previous verses in Psalm 5 were talking about how God does not take pleasure in wickedness, and how sin cannot be with Him.  Then David writes this verse.  He did not write, "but I, by my righteousness" or even, "but I, because of my perfection,"  David wrote, "but I, by your great love."  We cannot be near God without His forgiveness.  There is no way we could get to heaven on our own, because of our sin.  But [...]

Changes

2020-08-08T02:45:11+00:00

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."  Isaiah 43:19.  Our dog passed away yesterday evening and I told Mom that the time I normally would feed him I would use to read on top of when I read in the evenings.  I know that one chapter in my life has been written, and now I'm turning the page to see what God has next.  I know that through my dog's passing that God is making a way in the [...]

Pets

2020-08-07T02:44:20+00:00

Tonight I just want to go over some reasons why I believe our pets will be in heaven when they die.  First off it mentions that Christ will return on a white horse when He comes to set up His Kingdom on the earth for the thousand year reign.  That means there will be at least one animal in heaven, so it would make good sense that other animals will be there.  Secondly, God allowed His people to bring their animals to the promised land.  He did not abandon those animals, He told His people to bring them.  Also, God is [...]

Perseverance

2020-08-06T01:44:28+00:00

There's an old saying that goes, "when the going gets tough, the tough get going,"  I got to witness that tonight.  I was at a competition this evening and watched a friend of mine having a hard time.  Yet, I also saw perseverance in her that I've not seen many times personally.  Even though it was rough trying to compete, she still did all that she could do and I'm proud that she is on my team.  I couldn't ask for any better.  There will be times when we face trials in life that seem hard if not impossible to overcome, [...]
