I heard about a pole taken a while back, and I may have mentioned this in a recent devotional, that was taken among church goers and/or church members. There were between 70 and 80 percent of these church goers that still believed that one can go to heaven by doing good deeds. This response was from Christian church goers. We cannot earn salvation. God is Holy and cannot be with sin, and therefore we cannot get into heaven without our sins being forgiven. Because God is Holy He has to do what is right and see that sin is punished. So He sent His Son to live in the flesh of man, Christ came and lived a righteous life with no sin. Jesus died, taking our sin upon Himself, and on the third day He was raised back to life. Because Christ lives we can place our faith in Him and be given eternal life. We cannot earn it, so Christ came and paid our debt for us, He earned it for us. All we have to do is confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior, ask God to be saved and forgiven of your sin, and believe in your heart that God raised Christ from the dead. It is that easy to be saved, and there is no other way to be saved. It is only when you place your faith in Christ that you can be forgiven; not by your works. “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,” Galatians 3:26 NIV. God Bless!
