Light of Life

2020-12-07T01:18:27+00:00

"The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness." Isaiah 9:2.  Jesus is the light of the world.  Without Him, we would all be stumbling around in the darkness of our own sin.  Yet the light of Christ illuminates every dark thought or deed that we ever had or done.  Even our best deeds are as filthy rags, our sin deserves punishment in hell.  Jesus knew our faults, that is why He came.  He came to earth, He put His light on display for all to see, He [...]

"Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." John 1:3.  Jesus was with God in the beginning, He was there when everything was created.  He took part in creating mankind.  He was there creating life.  As we move into the Christmas season, the most important thing to remember is that Jesus is the greatest gift that has ever been given.  Jesus was with God creating life in the beginning, and when He came to live in human flesh, He was coming to give life again. We have all sinned, we have all broken God's [...]

Living the Word

2020-11-20T03:21:23+00:00

I read this in the book, "Unlocking the Scriptures" by Hanz Finzel for school today in a chapter about how we apply Scripture to our lives. "One story tells of several pastors arguing about which Bible translation was best. One man startled the group by saying, "My grandmother's translation is the best I've ever read." "What," his colleagues asked, "your grandmother translated the Bible?" "Yes, she translated the Bible into her life, and it was the most powerful translation I've ever seen." They got the point!" You may be the only Bible that someone reads.  Does your life add or take [...]

Boasting the right way

2020-11-07T03:10:12+00:00

"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."  Galatians 6:14.  I could boast about archery, I compete anywhere from locally to nationally, I've got a state championship and several very wonderful sponsors, but will that get me to heaven?  I could boast in my academics, I will graduate high school with two years of college experience, but will that save my soul?  I could boast that I am a decent human being, I don't murder, I don't gamble, I don't blackmail people, [...]

Lighting the way

2020-11-01T02:36:10+00:00

I think I wrote a devotional like this not long ago, but, I was reminded of this principle earlier this evening.  When it comes to arrows, there are probably a thousand different nocks, but some companies make nocks that light up when you shoot them.  These are very good nocks to use when hunting, provided they are legal in your state.  These nocks help you to see where you hit the target, or if you are hunting where you hit the animal, as well as to help find the arrow after the shot.  Simply put they light up the way the [...]

Not what you think

2020-10-31T02:57:43+00:00

"This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:" Matthew 1:1.  Sometimes we get bored reading the genealogies found in the Bible.  Reading who begat who seems like a waste of time at first glance, but God always has a reason for what He does.  God has a reason for recording these family trees in the Bible.  In the case of Christ's birth, there was prophecy concerning the generations leading up to His birth, but in other places of the Bible, the names add up to a message.  When I was younger, Mom used [...]

The Times

2020-10-30T03:18:44+00:00

Hunters often check the weather to figure out the best time of day to hunt, whether morning or evening.  I know we personally check the daily and hourly temperatures.  We also check the barometric pressure and try to plan when and where we want to hunt based on our findings.  We try to keep up with the signs of good days to hunt and more than that, the best time of day.  As Christians, we also pay attention to the fact we are in the last days.  Based on what Christ has spoken, we are in the latter days.  Some people [...]

Friend Request

2020-10-25T03:01:46+00:00

When someone sends you a Friend Request on Facebook, you have to choose to accept or decline, it is as simple as that.  If you wait to accept that request, then you are basically declining the request.  God will draw a person to salvation, He will present you with a choice, you can confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior, or you choose to not confess Him.  God wants to save you from your sin.  God is holy, and our sin is just the opposite.  God is a righteous Judge, and He will punish sin.  God is also merciful, and He [...]

Rest Stops

2020-10-22T01:51:20+00:00

Rest stops are a handy thing.  When you've been on the road for hours and you need to just stretch your legs, get a water or soda, and just breathe for a minute before getting back into the vehicle, rest stops are very useful.  Those little pit stops can often be refreshing.  The Sabbath is similar.  God wants us to take just one day a week, and pause from our work for just a minute and breathe.  He wants us to spend a day in fellowship with Him.  He wants us to spend time in His Word, in prayer, and most [...]

Knowing the Heart

2020-10-21T01:49:58+00:00

"then hear from heaven, your dwelling place.  Forgive and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know every human heart),"  1 Kings 8:39.  King Solomon, the wisest man to ever exist, knew this, that he could not know the heart of all people.  God knows the heart of all people.  He knows the intent of the heart in every move we make.  It is good that God is our judge, because He knows the heart.  When we act, someone may be aggravated with why or how we did something, but they [...]
