There is a target company that I shoot for and one of my favorite things about this particular target is just how easy it is to focus on that target. The way the target is shaped and colored helps you to aim well. As Christians, we have a mark that we are aiming for. We are aiming to become more like Christ each and every day. It is not easy to become more Christlike, but God will help us achieve it. God will help us to focus on Him, and even though Satan will fight for your attention, you have to keep your eyes on Christ. We will miss the mark and there will be days where we are shooting in the unsteady wind. There will be days that we get tired, and the bow becomes hard to draw, but we must keep our eyes on Christ. The more we choose to focus on Him the easier it will be to focus on Him when trouble comes. When we focus on Him, we can work to become more like Him. The main way is to apply what God’s Word says to our lives, and we can also pray that God will help us to become more loving, to become wise, to become patient, and to help us follow the commands we have been given. Although we will still miss the mark, God will help us to hit the center of the bullseye more and more as we focus on Christ and seek to follow Him each and everyday. You have to keep your eyes on the prize, and stay focused. Peter was able to walk on the water with Christ when he focused on Jesus. Yet it says, “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:30. Peter sank when he let the distraction and fear Satan sent get a hold on him, he missed the mark because he moved his focus to the wrong thing in that moment. However, when we focus on Christ and we are following His command, we will hit the mark. God Bless!
