“Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.”  Nathan replied, “The LORD has taken away your sin.  You are not going to die.”  2 Samuel 12:13 NIV.  There are many Christians who believe that one can lose salvation.  I don’t and this verse is one of the reasons why.  David had an affair with a man’s wife, then had the man killed, and then took the woman as his own wife.  Surely, if God would reject someone who followed Him because the follower made a mistake it would have been David.  Yet, God forgave David, even though David had did what we would think unimaginable for such a man, one that God said was after His own heart.  God forgave David, and then used David and Bathsheba’s marriage to eventually produce the next king of Israel.  It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, God can forgive you.  Nobody is perfect, just because a person accepts Christ does not mean that they are perfect, it means that they desire to be better than they were before.  Christians will still make mistakes and God will still forgive.  That doesn’t make the mistake right, it just means that the price has been paid for it.  Forgiveness is not a license to sin, rather, it is motivation to do what is right.  God will still use a Christian after he/she makes a mistake, and God will discipline the Christian as a Father does his child and as He did for David.  Yet, He will still Love them and desire for them to Love Him.  He will still try to help them to become better people and God will help that Christian to make amends.  God will not forsake you as His child because of your sin because He already forsook sin when His Only Begotten Son took your sin on Himself.  Christ paid for our sin, there is no need for us to try to make it seem as though He could not pay for it all.  God Bless!
