“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,” Colossians 2:6. I’ve written quite a few devotionals with this verse. I normally pose the question, how do we receive Christ? We receive Him by faith. We receive Jesus Christ as Lord by faith. Our salvation, is by grace through faith. We provide the faith, and God provides the grace. So as we continue to walk in Christ we need to stay faithful to Him, and God will give us the grace we need to do so. God knows that life will be hard at times, God knows that we will be tried and tested. God knows that we will be tempted, that we will be mocked, and persecuted. God gives us the grace to endure these things so that if we will continue to be faithful to Him, He will be able to reach someone who is lost through our witness, or He will be able to encourage one of His Children. On top of working for the good of others through us in a trial, God will also help to refine us by the trial. He will use the trial for discipline, for teaching, and for growth. Grass grows better down in the valleys than it does on the mountain top. So then, just as we received Christ as Lord, we need to continue to live our lives in Him. We need to be rooted and built up in Him. We have to stay faithful to Him in order to grow our roots deep. God will give us the grace we need, because Satan will try to distract you, and God’s grace will help you to stay focused on Jesus. As we grow deeper roots, and we are built up in Him, we will be strengthened in the faith, and we need to be overflowing with thankfulness. God has a plan for each of us, even in the trial. God will help you through, but stay faithful to Him, praise Him in the good and the bad times. God Bless!
