“The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver.” Judges 16:5. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil as the Bible puts it. Samson had fell in love with Delilah, but she did not truly love him. When the rulers offered her a large reward to get Samson to reveal the source of his strength, the Bible records that she chose the reward over Samson. As Christians we have to make sure that we have our priorities straight. In this instance Delilah valued money that she could not take with her to the grave over another person. As Christians we have to make sure that we put God first. We have to serve Him, and God also calls us to love others as ourselves. That means we are to put our families before ourselves, as well as our friends and neighbors. When we look out for ourselves, the only thing we will see is our downfall, but when we seek to serve God, we will see His blessing. It may not be financially, but God will bless us in ways far better than money. He will bless us with spiritual growth, which is priceless, and He will bless us in our relationships with others, as long as we put Him first. Do not let anything come before God, because God will discipline His children. He will bring us back to Him, and the way may not be pleasant, but He will bring us back because He Loves us. God Bless!
