I was listening to some music today and there was a song I hadn’t listened to before come up.  The name of the song was, “The Scar that Held my Name”.  In the song the singer talks about having a dream and seeing Jesus.  In the dream Jesus took His robe off and showed the singer a scar on His back that held the singer’s name.  Jesus was whipped to the point where one more lash would have killed a normal human, and then he walked a little over a mile I believe; uphill for a good portion of the trip, all while carrying a cross.  He was beat up before being whipped and quite probably during His grueling trek.  He was then nailed to the cross.  He had a crown of thorns on His head, not gently put on His head, but shoved upon His brow.  The scars on His body do bear our name.  We earned each of those stripes, we earned the torment and shame He bore.  We racked up a debt higher than we could pay.  Yet God Loves us so much, that He gave His Son to save us.  We are unworthy, but He values us so much that He gave His Son.  Do you get the picture, His Love for us equals His Love for Christ.  We have sinned against Him, we spit in His face, we are the ones who put Christ upon that cross for six hours.  Yet God Loves us anyway.  He wants to forgive us, that is why He sent Christ.  He doesn’t want to punish us for our sin, He wants to redeem us and bring us to heaven.  We have the chance to go to heaven, because Christ paid our debt.  The only thing we have to do is acknowledge that we are sinners and confess that Christ is the Savior.  We have to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, ask God to be saved and forgiven of all our sins, and believe in our heart that God raised Christ up from the dead.  It is that simple.  God Loves us and when we accept His Son, God signs the adoption papers and brings us into His family forever.  It says in Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  To be saved, means to literally be saved from God’s punishment for sin where His wrath against sin is poured out.  We are saved from darkness, and brought into the light to share God’s Love with others so that they too may believe.  God Bless!
