Most people like that “new” smell.  Books, vehicles, pretty much everything made has a new smell to it (I prefer the smell of a new bow myself).  It is similar to the joy of a new Christian.  Someone who has just accepted Christ is usually so happy to know they don’t have to wonder where they will go when they die.  A new Christian is so joyful to know that they are loved and redeemed.  Yet, unlike that new smell, the joy of a new Christian does not have to fade away.  God gives us reasons to be joyful and thankful each and everyday.  Each morning that the sun rises we have reason for joy.  We can have joy in the Lord knowing that His Holy Spirit will guide us.  We can have joy knowing that His Love and forgiveness will not run dry.  We can have joy knowing that He is always with us and that He will help us through any problem we face.  God will not get rid of every problem for us, although He can and He will occasionally.  Most of the time He helps us work through the trial, He helps us to push on and to keep trusting in Him.  We can have joy knowing that He is helping us to grow in those trials, and that He works out all things for the good of those who Love Him and who are called according to His purpose.  Ultimately, we can have joy knowing that the old person we were when God saved us is gone.  That old being is gone away, and the new has come.  God took the old sinner that we were, and He washed us clean.  He mends our wounds, He cleans away the dirt, and He makes us whole in Christ.  Because of God we can have true joy. “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11.  God Bless!
