“Again the Israelites cried out to the LORD, and he gave them a deliverer-Ehud, a left handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite.  The Israelites sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab.” Judges 3:15.  The Bible does not often note whether a person is right handed or left handed, in fact, this is one of the only times it is recorded.  As we read through this part of the book, we see that Ehud was able to use this trait to attain victory and freedom for Israel.  I did a little research, and most of the time when someone would come before a king, the king’s servants would search the left leg of people who came before him to make sure that they could not draw a weapon with their right hand, as most right handed people of that day would strap a knife to their left leg if they wanted to hide it.  Since Ehud was left-handed, he was able to keep the knife concealed and since most people are right handed, Ehud was not discovered and was able to defeat the oppressor of Israel.  We are all formed in God’s image, but God makes each of us unique, with certain characteristics and abilities.  God wants us to use those abilities for His glory just as Ehud did.  Now, I doubt that we will have to free a nation from oppression, but God can and will use us to proclaim freedom to those bound to sin.  God wants us to share the good news of the gospel with those we come in contact with.  God will give us all that we need in order to do so, if we will just follow Him as Ehud did.  God Bless!
